Description
The share includes weekly distributions of harvested and cleaned vegetables and herbs from the weeks of Tuesday, June 3rd (or Friday, June 6th) through Tuesday, November 18th (or Friday, November 21st) for 25 weeks. All CSA members receive a 10% discount at our farm stand and free U-Pick flowers and herbs. We are unable to accommodate switching between days of the week during the season, so if you are unable to pick up your share please call the farm before 4pm on the day of your pick up and a volunteer will bag your share and place it in the cooler for later pick up (during normal business hours). Your share is donated to Salvation Army if you do not call before 4 pm.
The distributions are on Tuesdays from 4:00 – 6:00PM or Fridays from 4:00 -6:00 at The Barn at Miller’s Crossing (170 Route 217, Hudson NY 12534). The philosophy behind Community Supported Agriculture is one of shared risk; farmers and consumers share the risk of crop failure as well as the bounty of the harvest. In this sense CSA is not a co-op. Shareholders support the farm and farmer through an “up-front” payment, which allows the farmer to avoid borrowing money pre-season, which is often necessary due to early season expenses without production income. In return for this investment the farmer manages the farm to provide you with a diverse distribution of the highest quality seasonal produce.
